My 2005 f430 has developed a slight knocking sound from the front end that I believe can be attributed to worn out tie rod ends. Does anyone have any experience changing the inner ends? I can find the outer ends pretty easily from Hill Engineering and some other reputable manufacturers, but according to the parts diagram, it doesn't look like Ferrari ever sold the inner ends as stand alone units. It seems like they are the same as any other tie rod, but the only replacement options are off of breakers or 3rd party made in china no name brands. I was just curious if anyone had any reccomendations.

First off are you talking about the steering rack swivel ends, these are available as oem from Ferrari but are plated steel and fail regularly , the hill units are stainless and miles better.
If you jack the front of the car up both sides , get someone to grip the steering wheel and then you grab a tyre at 3+9 o clock. Rock it to see if you feel movement.
Now try and 6+12 o clock for movement.
Take the wheel off and using a prybar , see if any movement in any of the pivot points in the suspension arms.
If you need to change the ends of the steering rack, undo locknut and count the number of turns to unscrew the swivel, replace new one same number of turns.
You may have slack in the ball joints, see front and rear suspension drawing as shows them in good detail

Thanks. I am talking about the inner tie rod end that screws into the steering rack inside the rubber boot. I can’t seem to find an aftermarket solution for that other than no name eBay brands. I plan on doing the outer tie rod end at the same time with the Hill parts.

here is the replacement part on eBay.
