    Greetings Ferrari Owners:

I’ve been digging around the site for a while, trying to identify any historical info on momo fitment in Ferrari. I know the back story on Momo’s incorporation in 1966, and Moretti’s early involvement with Monza and Monte Carlo wheels starting in 1964 - followed by his rise to success.

Based on the engravings on the back, my 380mm Monza was made in 1964, two years before Moretti incorporated Momo. The wheel matches the select few “pre-momo” wheels from this brief period. The known Momo experts seem to agree.

What makes this wheel odd or in my opinion special is that it is red. Based on a detailed examination I am confident that the leather is original, and was dyed prior to installation. That leads me to Ferrari.

I’ve read that nearly all of the early Momo wheels, say before the 308 were “silver”. Short of the open wheeled race cars, is anyone aware of any cars that received a Monza be it factory or custom order? I’m a huge fan of historical queries like this and would love any collective input. My assumption is that this was a Moretti one off for a client, as nobody has ever seen another red example from this period. I checked on the 911sregistry as well to no real avail, but the distinct color led me here.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

Very nice looking. Any other wheels that you have seen that have the same font stamped into them?

    Hi Ryan,

Not personally but it is established that the first round of “production” wheels made by Morretti had these engravings.

Mark Morrissey has had a few and documented the different eras in his well crafted blog. The original article was published years ago but he has since updated with even more info. A highly recommend read.
