I have a 1992 348 TS and the inside rear view mirror has come off the windshied. I have repaired several of my other and friends cars with similar problem, but in all cases, there was a thin mounting piece that you glue to the glass first. After it sets you mount the mirror on it. On the Ferrari Mirror there appears to be a division on the block that mounts the mirror, but I have not been able to determine how it comes apart, or if it does at all. The complete assembly would be too heavy for the glue to hold up by itself. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance. David Curro

It might help to post a picture of the mirror. If it doesn't come apart, maybe something like contact cement would work. Contact cement works by applying the glue to both sides (windshield and mirror in this case) and letting them dry. After both sides have dried, you put the parts together and the bond is pretty much instant. It's obviously very important to make sure you have the mirror perfectly aligned because, unlike typical glue, it will be virtually impossible to reposition the mirror at all once once it is in contact with the windshield.

Ok, I was a little uneasy trying to seperate the mirror mount from the windshield anchor. I had visions of break it and then needing to fina a replacement mirror for hundreads of dollars. I put the windshield anchor in a vise and gently tapped the mirror mount upwarsd and it popped apart! I was lead to this because there just didn't seem to be a way to screw the mirror on the anchor once it was attached to the windshield. I have included a picture to show the two pieces. It is a ball and socket joint. NOW, does anyone have any information on how to replace the mirror glass. The silver backing is flaking off the backside on the bottom of the mirror. Thanks, David Curro

One ...Srephed ... You won't get it off .. The glue is stronger than the glass ... The screen will break before the glue .. Take the mirror back and buy the correct one...
Two.Dcurro1..That is a push fit you have removed it successfully .. I'm not familiar with the housing someone may be able to advise you exactly on what to do.. In general they were not manufactured to be disassembled . Look for a screw or seem and work very carefully and try to split .. It is a very fine line between doing and breaking . so if not confident get more info or try and buy unit complete second hand.. Also keep in mind the mirror glass is not your usual mirror you buy from the local glass guy. It is usually tinted and sometimes will have a tiny concave .. You can find it just take your time .. In take it with you ..
