    Who wants to turn some money into noise? (thought so) It's a short notice idea, but I'll be in town and I am planning on meeting my buddy Bryan at an outdoor shooting range on Sunday, sometime around 12:00 Noon.

    Weather is supposed to be gorgeous!

    I'm open to picking either Elm Fork in Dallas (Elm Fork Shotgun Sports), or Alpine south of Fort Worth (Alpine "Range Information") if anyone else wants to join us. Which one will depend on who is in, we'll pick the one most central for all who want to join us.

    I'll have a couple of pistols and a few rifles with me if you don't have your own.

    If you are interested in joining us, PM me or post in this thread and say which location works best... If no one tells me they are in for sure, then Bryan and I may make a last minute change of time or venue with no warning!

    I wish I could. There are some new pieces in the arsenal. None of which have a single round thru them.

    I've been to Alpine once. Won't go back. Very uncontrolled and crowded. I didn't feel safe. Never been to Elm Fork but heard good things. Don't know if I can join you yet but sounds like fun. Keep me posted.

    It's been quite some time since I've been to either range. Sorry to hear you had that experience at Alpine, it's the one I prefer, although that's based on 7+ year old memories and back then, I frequently went during the middle of the day on weekdays.

    Haven't been back to Alpine in years for similar reasons. Somehow, they manage to combine "uncontrolled' with "overbearingly uptight".
    "Unsafe" nails it just about right, with the crowded full-family-of-uncontrolled-children atmosphere.

    Elm Fork hosted a "Suppressor Shoot" a year or two ago, would have gone if I'd been online enough in the past couple of days to catch this thread. Have a couple of new items I'd like to try on their long range.

    Great to see yall! Jimmy, Bryan, Tito and I just left and are sitting in Mercado Juarez. I took my sweet time mounting and sighting in a scope on my new 22.

    I took my friend to Top Gun (Leonard, TX) that usually shoots at Alpine, he thought Top Gun was 5x sticker, I said no, Alpine is just that much more dangerous. I fished at Squaw Creek (SE of Granbury) today, so drove by Alpine.

    Glad everyone had fun, I like Elm Fork.

    Sorry I missed today. Late night celebration last night and all the loud noises would not have been good. Looks like fun, we'll have to plan this again sometime.

    Rob, I've been to Top Gun as well. Great place to go shooting. Been back several times.

    Any pictures of targets?

    we really wanted to go meet you guys but too many errands, unfortunately. we might go to elm fork this saturday but more likely a gametime decision.

    Did y'all buy ammo at the range? How much was it?

    Also, is that a 10/22 in the background? It looks nice. Its a fantastic firearm that's fun to shoot when ammo is cheap.

    The current 10/22 issue isn't cost of ammo, it's finding the stuff!!

    Ohh I know.

    When I do find it its not as cheap as it once was :( It is still "cheap" in comparison to some other ammo.

    Last time I was at Elm fork I was able to buy 325 rounds of 22lr. I don't remember the price though.

    The limit of 100rds at a time from Academy makes it even more painful. I shot about a 100 rounds in 10 minutes last time I was out shooting. That's the other problem with the 10/22, it blows through ammo.

    I did a terrible job of picking hobbies- Cars and guns are an easy way to get rid of money. Throw in my growing watch obsession and I won't have anything left :D
