The WSM shows installing the the cam face plate with new cam seal and green o-ring, then do all timing checks and belts and then add valve cover. Valve cover then compresses o-ring.

Has anyone waited on the cam seal and o-ring until after valve covers were installed? This would provide equal pressure to all parts of the green o-ring as cam face plate is pushed into place. But this would mean installing belt and gears twice.

You have to install the cam seals from the rear end of the cams, so cams have to come out.

Affirmative, one of the 575M upgrades from the 550. Only reason to remove them is if you want to fiddle with the hydraulic lifters.

Ah OK, thought it's the same procedure at both engines.
    Nice upgrade for 575 owners.

after installing per wsm i think it would be difficult to install after valve covers are installed as the effort with just part of the o-ring being squeezed was substantial, I do not see how I could exert enough pressure to seat the full o-ring
