Well, here's my first attempt at this project. The first pic is the stock 348 non convex mirror.

When you look at the car in the mirror's reflection, the bumper of that car in the mirror is 37' away.

The bottom picture is the convex glass I had cut from a '94 Mitsubishi Galant. The glass cutter did a pretty good job all in all.
There's some chipping on the back of the glass that pulled off a bit of the reflective material on the edges.
I'll probably just add a small piece of trim all the way around the mirror to dress it nicely.

But WOW. I can actually tell what's going on out of that side of the car now!

Project cost me $10 for the glass, $58 to have it cut and the edges sanded, and $5.00 for the 20lb double sided Scotch tape.

    Thoughts on this?

Did you remove the old mirror or did you leave it in place?

I left the original mirror. I like mods that are in some way shape or form "reversible".

I also just added a small bit of black vinyl pin-striping material around the whole edge of the new mirror to cover the small edge chips. Looks really clean now. =]

I'm guessing you used double sided tape to stick it to the existing mirror?

Yes, just around the outside edges so that if I decide to take it off I can still physically do so.

    Hi,

I got in touch with this company on ebay:
Right driver side wing mirror glass Kia Sephia 2000 - 2004 P/N: 202 | eBay

They are based in the UK, but there must be a similar thing in the USA and other countries. I haven't ordered it yet, but will get round to it shortly, but for £5.50 ($9.30) it could be a huge result.

    MY QUESTION:
Hi, hopefully you can help me. I have a Ferrari 355, which has two flat glass mirrors. I want to fit a convex mirror to the passenger side - if i make an accurate template of the glass can you make one for me?

I dont want to remove the original mirror glass, just put the replacement convex mirror on top with double sided sticky tape.

    THE ANSWER:
Yes, sure if You will send us template we will make it within 2 working days. Please send to our address:
    Channelautoparts Ltd
    Unit 4 c
    bowles well gardens

Also please send us your address and email details so we will send you invoice for £5.50 for a mirror.

Send a tracing of your mirror to the address listed on the Internet glass network. They will send it back along with a convex replacement for less than 50.00. Double sided foam tape and your done.
