    Bummed……

I just installed a new (used) Ariel Switch on my 1979 308GTB and found that the Antenna might be inoperative.

The motor engages and I have electrical Antenna motor noise in both positions of the switch, the noise doesn’t sound strange at all as if something’s handing-up, it just doesn’t go up.

Any suggestions? I’ve not installed a radio/stereo as of yet, but shouldn’t the Antenna go up and down just the same?

If the Antenna is in fact broken, can they be fixed and where?

    Thanks Guys.

PS: I’ll post this on the 308/328/Mondial section side also for greater exposure.

I'm guessing the antenna on your car isn't much different than the one on my Dino.

It uses a plastic drive that pushes and pulls on the antenna, Sooner or later, the plastic gives up the ghost, and you have a motor that spins, and an antenna that goes nowhere.

Mine is an Autovox, semi automatic. You actuate it with a toggle switch that raises and lowers it. It isn't wired, in my case, through the radio, so I can raise and lower mine when the car is on or off.

If you have an Autovox, I have a spare!! IF you're interested in it (it has a switch, too) I can hook you up.
