I got it directly from racedeck northeast rep for a little under 3 dollars/sq. ft.

    very nice!

i've had my racedeck down for over three years now. the white tiles clean right up with soap and water - even after a new england winter.

it's pricey, but it's trivial to install and you can take it with you when you move (or rearrange it if you want to mix it up). no chemicals. no installation process. it's ready to use the moment i'ts down. if a tile gets messed up or busted somehow - just pop it out and replace it with a new one.

pretty damn painless stuff - well, except for the up-front check ;)

Looks nice but how is it to kneel on? How about if you are servicing and you drop a small washer -- is it easy to retrieve or not?

nothing can escape under the tile- it's as close to a real impermeable floor without putting down the floor..

Is it smooth enough for a creeper to roll around easily?

clarification: i installed kiwi tile, not racedeck. same idea, but at the time (undoubtedly things have changed), the kiwi product appeared superior basd on my testing.

anything rolls around on it without issue. it's very very sturdy and stable and the spaces between the tiles are insignificant unless you're a baby ant.

    Question :

So you do not use adhesives to lay this floor. How does the edges by the garage door stay down. (I am picturing a nice wind blowing into the garage - picking up the tiles on the edge and moving them - or my little kids grabbing one and moving it around...

I just bought some industrial epoxy flooring like they do in factories (not the cheap stuff from Home Depot) - but having read through the prep material that came with it - if there is any dust, don't have exactly the right drying time/temp, etc. It could peel/flake - and if it does that - you pretty much sand blast it off - and start over. I think I am going to go with Race Deck or similar instead - I don't want to put this epoxy down - (possible make a mistake or it not work properly) and spend 3 days removing it. PS. This epoxy takes 5 days to put down. (Acid Prep, full scrub cleaning removing all dust, etc - 1 day) - Primer coat (1day - including drying time) 1st coat of epoxy (1 day including drying time) 2nd coat (1 day including drying time) - and 48 hours of drying time - before any cars or heavy objects are placed/driven on it...

The epoxy is pretty cool - it is about 1/8 inch think, non slip - if done correctly - you could pretty much do anything an it will not hurt the floor - and is completly chemical resistant. But what a pain to install - thus I might eat the 1K I spent on this and do decking instead..

fwiw, and this was three+ years ago, they were similar products but i found a few differences, most notably that the kiwi locks and hoops were more resilient on attach/detach testing.

i negotiated them both down to the same price on a $/sf basis and chose kiwi.

    again,fwiw.

Richard, I used RaceDeck also, and love it. They now offer it in either 12" or 18" squares, I did use the 18" and love it, not as many seams. As far as how it is put down, it is basically just like Pergo flooring for your home, that is it is a floating type floor. The material does expand and contract a little bit due to weather. Therefore you leave a 1/2" gap at wall to allow for expansion. Product goes down easy and is extremely durable. I would highly reccomend it. no gluing just snaps together simple....cost is about 2.75 per sq. ft. plus shipping.
