    Hello,

    I came across a 308/328 engine and thought of building a car with the engine on a custom chassis.

    Because the 308/328 is longitudinally mounted, it makes it very difficult.

    So I am now exploring the 348 engine, does anyone know if a normal (non transaxel) transmission can be mated to the bell housing?

    Thank you

    Can be:: yes
    It all depends on machine work to mate the output of the crankshaft to the <regular> transmission and clutch. That is, since there are not parts available, you have to do this on a lathe and mill. You will also have to fabricate a clutch "bell" housing.

    308/328 is transverse mounted....348 is longitudinal.

    Again, thank you so much!

    Guys are amazing.

    Which Alfa, any idea? Probably the GTV, or, V6, 164?

    Do you also meet the bell housing with clutch as well?

    Thank you!

    I cant remember the details as it was a year or 2 ago. It might have been a Lancia trans V6
    I would check with folks in a UK forum as it's their game like small block Chevy are to us
    It was pretty strait forward with minimal machining involved

    Milano and GTV6 are rear wheel drive with gear-box and diff in the back (transaxle), engine is longitudinal (front) mounted. Alfa Sei is front mounted longitudinal engine with transmission in the front (and diff in the back), though those are getting rare.

    Hello, thank you all for the input.

    It seems it is a very complicated task..especially because of the oil pan.
