Guys I recently purchased a single din carplay radio to replace the old worn becker unit in my 1999 360 Modena

The nearest audio shop to me is 40miles away and wants me to leave the car there to install it.

Is there a diy, what wires I need to connect as it can't be that hard to wire it up. A friend will help to solder the wiring etc.

There should be an adapter loom available to connect the loom direct to the replacement - no soldering etc

Do more research as it will vary according to what stereo you have bought and there's a map of the 360 wires on the unit and/or in the manual as I recall

Maybe there's even other advice already in this 360 section about changing stereos ETA of course there is last updated last week !!

I would never leave a Ferrari with an audio shop, unless I knew them well and they all owned exotics. Maybe tell them that you just don't allow that, sorry and that you will be there for first appointment and will wait for it to be done. Bring a beach chair if they don't have a waiting area that faces the shop area.

You need to be there to show them all the Ferrari stuff stuff like where to turn off the battery disconnect and how to open the trunk to access it, and how to make sure both doors are open when you isolate the battery so the windows are dropped and don't rip up your window seals and also listen to the default settings they select for you and instructions of how to work the radio and how you want the wires terminated and how long and where you want the leads stowed so you can access them for future upgrades, etc, etc...bottom line is anytime someone tries to get you to treat your car as a regular pedestrian run of the mill econo-box anyone can use it, and it's just a car... they are not to be trusted. You can still use them for your needs but you call all the shots because, "you are just like that, it's your personal flaw and as weird as it sounds it's a point of pride for you!"

I just replaced my radio and even removing the aluminum surround to have better access to the opening was a PITA because the electrical connections have all been in place for 20+ years. No one is more careful than I am and I had a rough time disconnecting them. My window control button assemblies have become brittle over time and I snapped one of the detents that holds it securely in the aluminum face. I was thinking well there goes a couple hundred bucks for new switches but nope, they are NLA so even though they are ok as is and it wont be a problem as long as I dont smash the buttons a radio install person would not let you know, unless you are standing right there, that they just broke your switches that are no longer available for purchase on planet earth. I looked on ebay and almost all of the used ones also have broken tabs on them so it's your car, I say look around until you find someone who will play by your rules.

Best bet for ownership is to be part of a club or community so you can benefit from those who have gone before you and recommend good service providers. Even the dealership can be a great source if you know how to build a relationship. .02
