Is it possible to remove and re install the instrument panel ( without damaging things or scratching) in a dino 246 without dropping the steering column ....

Im trying to re-install one and have the steering boss and wheel out but still feel Im going to bend/scratch/tear something ....

IF the column has to be dropped..how is that done ...?

    Thanks

I did so about 15 yrs ago, and IIRC I had only removed the steering wheel. It was close, but it did come out without scratching anything.

I managed to get it out ( with only the steering wheel removed) but could not get the thing back in...tried everything and then found that if I just remove the centre steering nut the whole switch cluster just lifts off the steering column....and then I was totally free to put the panel back with no damage...very easy.....
    just for future reference...

To remove, I tilt the top outwards first and then gently pull on the right side out to gain access to the ammeter wires on right. If they have enough slack then continue to remove the cluster to gain acces for your hand to unscrew the threaded speedo connector. If no Ammeter wire slack then remove the Ammeter connections.

Once the cluster is freed, continue pulling out with top edge angled slightly forward but watch the end of the two mother connectors; one green and one blue
