I’m having to make new pigtails for my instrument gauges, is this wire 18 or 16 gauge? I ordered new sets of TE, fast-on 6.3mm connectors, is there a special crimping tool that I should use? This is not a photo of my car but one from the internet since I’m on the road.

More likely 16 gauge, but when you cut off the terminal, you can verify the gauge. I use my wire strippers to verify the gauge. Line up the copper core to the hole in the stripper when shut.
I purchased the item below from Amazon for crimping some of my 6.3 terminals. Max is 16 gauge for this crimper.
I also bought another crimper for larger terminals which insert in the plastic connectors. I need it for the larger terminals found in a Daytona relay panel in the engine compartment and some of the fuses. I was also replacing some of the melted red insulators for some of the relay connections. I had buy the larger terminals for the Daytona.
