Hi everybody, I'm changing the lights on my panel using the directions from FCA site. Everything went smooth taking apart. But the 4 lights they're talking about are they the ones in all 4 corners where the 4 screws where? All i see are those 4 plus 1 (in the picture it's in the top middle of wheel section) I don't see anything on the speedo or tach. Plus the bigger bulbs (3893) don't match anywhere. Any help. The bulbs you are changing are in the speedo and tach...not the warning lights in each corner. Search the archives for more info...but is should be pretty self explainatory...
I never bothered myself with the panel-illumination while in there (stupid, stupid me) but perhaps this pic is of any help ..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
So on the tac it's the 2 top ones? And on the speddo i see where they are. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I sent the speedo and tach to Palo Alto Speedo Repair to get the lenses cleaned- well worth it. Brighter bulbs, bypassed the rheostat, and it looks like what I'd call a normal cluster at night now. What a pleasure.(78 308) They also calibrated the speedo.
I found the following post to be very helpful: http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/dashlights.html My only problem is that the four-corner panel lights (the ones you pull out to get to the screws within the binnacle) are VERY loose, and required rubber cement/electrical tape to re-mount the the instrument panel so the plastic lenses rest flush with the instrument panel. If you don't, they just pop out and dangle there like christmas ornaments.
Agree. Must say the brighter bulbs are good, but BYPASS THE RHEOSTAT is key. i cleaned mine rheostat with top quality cleaner (Caig) and felt it should be good. WORNG, the stock rheostat stinks so just bypass it.
