My policy renews tomorrow. Have been with Hagerty for 18 years and they have been great, but on a whim did online quote search. Just 1 car, '74 Dino 246 GTS.

Hagerty now close to $4,000 a year with agreed value of $400k. Grundy offering ALMOST identical coverage (mileage and use restrictions) for $1675. That is a huge difference. And yes, I read all the fine print. Same $$ coverage, I always buy the max on BI, SUM, collision and comprehensive, etc.

Anyone have experience with Grundy on a Dino? Would you recommend them? I think very highly of Hagerty, but I don't feel like just throwing away over $2k.

Any other contenders out there with good coverage and reasonable rates?

Do yourself a favor; most if not all premium insurance companies, CHUBB, CHARTIS etc have collector car insurance in their offerings. You should get a quote from them. Also, do not forget to inquire about lost value coverage?

I have AIG and it was MUCH better than Hagerty. One thing that helps a lot is to move all your insurance (real estate, valuables, umbrella policy, regular cars, collector cars, etc.) to the same company. They really want to get it all and compete more aggressively. Also, in case of a claim I believe they'd have extra incentive to do right by you if there is a lot of other business on the line...

I agree with you. I have always felt it to be a bad thing to have all your insurance with one company but Chartis is the best!! Has been working. Make sure you have "lost value coverage". It is not automatically included on these classic car policies. I wish healthcare insurance was this easy?
