Are your insurance premiums affected if you get a no-point and/or non-moving violation? I got a ticket returning from the Foliage Run where I was charged with a "View Obstruction" for having a radar detector. This was in Bergen County. The New Jersey cop said that nothing is allowed above the dash except for EZ Pass.

Will insurance see this? Will they care? Should I bother fighting this (the fine is de minimus, so I don't have any problem paying it)?

Call Alpine Municipal Court and ask them about the point situation on that summons. I know that the cop said that it isn't a point violaton (it shouldn't be) but just be sure. Then pay it. If you have any issues with this one Vik you can count on me being by your side in court for this one any time on any day. I'll also insure that Mike (green Boxster) is there as well to back you up. The whole thing was absolutely corrupt (you hear stories about BS situations like this, but this was flagrant on the officers part) and you were strictly targeted because of the f-car...period. As you can see, I'm still a little worked up about the whole thing. :-<

Many thanks Chris. The ticket is not yet in the system - will pay it and be done with it as soon as it is. Don't have time to go to court and fight this stupid thing. Not even worth it.

it wont affect your insurance, but what makes an easy pass easier to see around then a radar detector! neither of them are clear.... go to court and fight it till the death! whats the worst thing that could happen $40 + $25 court fee :)
