Guys, I very rarely post but I am looking for a bit of help regarding insuring two cars, either under one policy like a multicar arrangement or via two separate policies but the second policy/insurer accepting your full no claims bonus from your first policy.

Basically I have run BMW M cars for a number of years now as my sole car as my wife is a bit (well, a lot) resistent to me having two cars.

The government and now my company are making life difficult to run My E60 M5 as a daily car so it looks like the more sensible option is to have a very sensible 2.0 tractor engineed car and a "hopefully" 348 as a toy. I am probably going to get a BMW 520d as the main car and the Ferrari as my high days and holidays toy.

ALWAYS wanted a Ferrari and as much as I know the 348 has its faults and is not the most loved of Ferraris I simply adore them and think it would be a good intro in the world of Ferrari.

Can anyone recommend an insurer who would be able to meet my needs? Also, can anyone suggest a company that I could rent a 348 from for a day as I need to see if one is able to get over the kerb and down my private access (unmade) road and into my carage which is also up a slight slope. My previous E46 M3 could make it no problem but when lowered 15mm ever so slightly scraped as it went over the kerbing and pavement into the access road and up into my garage.

I was thinking of going to Foskers which is only 20 mins drive and getting my tape measure out as i knew the exact road clearance heights of my M3 all round when lowered (a standard trolley jack wouldn't fit under it so I think it was around 120 to 125mm off the deck).

Would be an expensive mistake if it can't get down to the garage but first i need to get insurance coverage sorted. Car would see no more than 3000 to 4000 miles a year.

    Any help very much appreciated.

Do an advanced search for insurance with sub-group UK for all the previous recommendations

    They'll probably say Locktons & MWA - I'll guess you're looking at £ 200-300

Unless you have a horrific record NCB is not usually a factor

I'm not aware of 348 rental but 355s are poor - maybe a dealer will take pity & let you try it as part of a test drive

Insurance has also gone up. I got hit with a huge increase despite 10 years no claims, no incidents, and no changes in circumstance. My insurance company blamed increases in VAT and taxes. I retorted that their increases far exceed the costs added by those factors by several fold. Then then just said "insurance rates have gone up in the industry, take it or leave it".

I had to take it, because nobody else was offering a better quote - despite lengthy searches. The customer today has his face in the mud and is being well and truly reamed. Personally, I think the ombudsman should be investigating price rigging.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Funny enough, despite a myopic lorry driver rearranging my M5 and a rather hefty claim my insurance has only increased £48. Just need to resolve how to get a 348 insured by a company that will accept my existing no claims which is/will be used on the daily driver for the 348 as well. I know they exist, just need to find one that won't pull my pants down!!

Going to go to Foskers this week to ask a few questions and have a look over a 348 and get the tape measure out. REALLY want to make this happen this year. You are a long time dead so I may as well make the dream a reality.

Doesn't anybody use Ferrari insurance or First Point Insurance in the UK?

Seems these are the 2 that the dealers are "pushing"

Not quite the same but my Alfa Romeo 159 is with Chris Knott Insurance and my 308 GT4 is on an RH Classic Car policy

If you run another car then a Classic Car policy (RH has, I think a 20 yr rolling cut off date) is probably the cheapest route.

    Best of luck

MWA have just transfered me to an Avivva policy from Royal Sun Alliance and saved me £500. Speak to Gary Moore at MWA.

Locktons are a waste of space as they never return call's
