Sorry about that. I wanted to catch your attention. No it wasn't the Ferrari but it was my truck that hauled it to the track. My question is, what are my rights to not accepting the declaration that the truck is totalled. It was an '89 Isuzu Amigo that was immacculate and towed my Ferrari all over the US. The short wheel base was not perfect but I couldn't buy just a normal pickup. They say it's only worth 3500 which is probably right but I was still planning on using it for many more years. Even with criss crossing this great land many times it only had 120K miles on it. The cutoff for the insurance co. (State Farm) is 70%. 70% of the value is the max they will pay out to fix it. The estimate now is about 2800 to fix it. Which means they want to total my truck. It was mostly cosmetic damage to the left side where I was pushed into a concrete divider. I was hit in the R rear while I was stopped in traffic. In WA that would make it 100% the fault of the driver who hit me. Good thing I didn't hit the car in front of me or I would share some blame!!? I just want it fixed.

Does anyone have experience in this matter? In short if they total my car they own it, for lets say $3500. If I want it back, I have to pay them what they would get from a salvage place about 30% or $1050. That gets me $2400 in my pocket. At best, if they're generous. So I'm left with the differance coming out of my pocket and I'm left with a truck that is worth even less now that is was wrecked. That is my question what are my options? I've had this truck since it was new and I've babied it ever since. Its probably the only Amigo out there with leather int., headers, SuperPerformance chip, custom dual exhaust, Dynamat-Extreme laid out in the entire vehicle, euro lights and the list goes on and on.

And the best part it looked like a Ferrari. There was once a letter to the Editor of R&T asking about a new Ferrari truck they saw in San Diego, CA. That was my truck! I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Yes, lots of F-Chatters have experience with this, but you lost most of us when you lied to us with your thread title. :(

Here is what happened to me:

    1. Rear ended, I had witnesses driving in the opposite direction and the police report noted the other driver at fault.

    2. His insurance co. disputed it. So, I went through my insurance company. They sent an adjuster and it was considered a total. They gave me a price and I countered with comps and KBB. They adjusted and final offered and I accepted (this took one month). A '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee for $6,300 (I think that's right). I bought it back for $700... that I will break apart for parts. The only problem is the back.

    3. His insurance company agreed that he was at fault and paid the insurance co. and the deductable. Then when I submitted the rental car cost they balked and said they were only going to pay a portion. They didn't think they should have to pay for a rental after I received the check. I guess they excpected me to find a car the next day. This will end up in court.....

It could have been a lot worse.... I might not have survived it in the 355.

I dont care what your truck looks like today or last week. I am judging you for posting a bogus attention getting title. Can you imagine if every post had a bait and switch title?

One of the few times I can actually side with the insurance adjuster.

I could see an Italian made, Ford-powered Laforza pulling off this treatment, but an Amigo? That's just wrong.

GTS Amigos are worth less than GTB Amigos.

Get a GTB next time and don't look back.

That's funny. Thanks for making me laugh. But seriously the Laforza, please that was the biggest piece of crap ever on the road. If I had funds like Bill Harrah I would put a Ferrari engine in it. His Jeerrari with a V-12 in the old Jeep was cool. In reality the Lambo LM002 should have been my first pick for towing the Ferrari's but I'm not that rich. It was hard enough to campaign the cars for several seasons. Thanks for all your comments, good or bad.
