I got no play on this thread in "off-topic" so I'm posting to this sub-forum.

What is the best way to insure multiple collector cars, in order to avoid excessive costs and redundancy?

Anyone ever use Leland West insurance? I've received recently a better quote on my Ferrari than I received from Hagerty w/ same terms.

Anyone ever use an "inland marine contract?" whereby cars are insured as equipment?

Leland West and Hagerty are essentially insurance brokers who subcontract out. Having said that Hagerty policy beat the Chubb policy for the same lineup substantially, at 37% of the Chubb price.
Insurance is a complex business and has as much to do with location as with the asset value, plus a myriad of other factors including the insured's reputation re claims and license points etc

They beat every other quote I received.
They are also most lenient with their driving parameters.

I've found LeLand West Insurance to be affordable and it has met my needs. (I have to keep the vehicle garaged, only have 1 driver, and drive it less than 2500 miles/year)

The only thing they required was pics of the car in the garage and an annual odometer statement.

Do these insurance companies insure for agreed value?

I know Hag and Leland do and I would assume Chubb does as well. One's policy is based on the cost of money. More like a loan document than an insurance binder.

I've heard good things about Chubb. Personally, I use State Farm and have regular insurance on all my vehicles.

I agree with Don V, we have insured our 250 pf coupe with State Farm for 30 years and had good luck with them. They agree to a total loss stated value and the premiums are very low. The local agent comes out once every other year to take some pics. The policy is for very limited use, like shows and such.

Hey, USAA rocks on service and price. I haven't found anyone who could come close to their prices either. If you have access to it check it out!

I love USAA, but their rates for my Ferrari are outrageous. I'm looking at other options now.

Has anyone insured with American Hobbyist? If so, what was your experience?

I have Chubb and they do have agreed value policies (mine is). I have had USAA in the past, but Chubb's rates were very competitive and also everyone isn't eligible for USAA.

When it come times to have a claim paid, Chubb is the best. State Farm, while maybe less expensive typically doesn't pay claims as well and may ask to have work performed at one of their "network" repair shops.

Chubb is the best, agreed values and when it is time to pay they are fair and fast. I had a huge claim and they paid the exact amount on the estimate and said they would pay more if it was required. I have been with them for years and never even think of going anywhere else.

I had Hagerty on my Alfa and Elise.

I broke my Alfa and needed a tow back home. I called their service number and must have interrupted a game of grab-ass. As I explained my situation to the girl on the other end, I could still hear her snickering and laughing with her buddy.

When all was said and done, Hagerty's towing "service" wouldn't even cover the hook-up fee. I'm glad I never had to make a claim with them.
