My Dad is trying to send the Strad over here for some events in Europe but his insurance wont cover it once the car is in Europe/France.

How does one insure its car when he wants to use it on another continent ? I would have thought that insurers would propose such a service ?

    Any leads ?

Im starting to think its easier to get a Ferrari here...

We are looking into it , but in France we have this Bonus/Malus system . My insurer is looking at the possibility of insuring it on my name , which might be a solution albeit a pricey one since i dont have any bonus yet..

ah, I figured out what PITA means...

Strange that the company won´t provide in this service. They´d only have to raise the premium for the time the car is over here.

You're not 25 yet, if I'm not mistaken ... that makes "pricey" the understatement of the year! lol ... don't ask me how I know :D

    Andrew,

Today I've got my car through customs in the Netherlands. I have special dispensation (available under law) on a project basis and can keep the car now for two and a half year, without running into the six month limit.

The insurance is split: Local liability insurance ($1900/year) with no bonus points (this will go down by 10% every year). It should be the same for the CS, since it is only liability. We also found a US company that will insure the car itself ($1800/year). This will probably be more for the CS.

Let me know if you need names and addresses.

When I was in the Czech Republic I bought "green card" insurance (so that I could cross international borders) through a local Prague broker who sourced it from a Bulgarian insurace company operating out of Zagreb, Croatia.

    Go figure....but it worked! :D
