Browsing the classified Ferrari adverts for relentless fun and knowledge, something suddenly struck me. It's clear and generally accepted I think that an apparently good, low mileage car can never be valued as a good, low mileage car when paperwork to substantiate that claim is not available. It seems to me that prices can drop by as much as 20-25%.

This got me thinking. For me, that means the folder of Mondial history I have in my home office is worth as much as £10k. For more valuable Ferrari's, that must be significantly higher. That now puts that same folder of paper as one of THE most valuable single items in my household, yet is not itemised as such on my home insurance!

Just out of curiosity, I'd be interested to know what precautions you folks take with regards the value of the paper associated with our beloved metal. It could surely start an interesting dialogue with our home insurers!

I would include complete scans of owner's books etc. And upload to the cloud. Maintenance recordswould be next. Might not be original but entirely worthy considering loss alternative.
