    Having been advised:

    1. that "Advice for new 308 owner please" (Classic Forum) is not an appropriate venue in which to ask why some owners may (unlike me) actually FAVOR K&N air filters, and
    2. to do a search on the topic, which I did with minimal success in obtaining an answer to my question "Why?" some owners FAVOR K&N filters, and
    3. that I start a thread in "Technical" for an answer to my question,

I'd seriously like to know why some owners favor K&N air filters. What is the basis for their decisions to use K&N filters? Having researched air filtration test data, e.g., http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm , do they conclude that K&N filters offer an advantage for their particular applications? If so, what?

if anything, there is a cost saving as K&N filters are completely re-useable..

i posted in your other thread, (with a pic) i am using the individual air cleaners :
    1) because the stock air box is near impossible to work around, and i dont want to drop any of those 100000 little nuts and washers into one of the carbs.
    2) as stated already, the k&n filters are reuseable. my 78 had the airbox and the single k&n filter. i absolutely prefer the individual filters. i have all the original stuff to put back on the car for the next owner.

ok i am loosing my mind.... i didnt post a pic in the other thread.....

Search by default only looks at the titles which isn't too useful.
Trick is to select 'advanced search' then 'search body of messages'.

Also, there's a lot in the old ferrari chat archives. Search button is down at the bottom. Old fchat has bot 'Technical Q&A' topic AND way down the menu the 'Technical Q&A Archives' which is where most of the posts are!

    Good searching...
