I'm trying to see what interest there is in a perfect reproduction instrument panel for early Dinos. I know that Dino Parts and Superformance sell these panels but the DP one is not the correct finish and the SP one is correct to the later cars (I am not sure where the change over is).

For those who do not know, the later cars have very fine horizontal brush lines in the aluminum while the earlier cars were annodized a very lightly smoked silver. The difference is immediately noticeable to the trained eye.

I would like to make available the instrument panel for under $100 and it will be 100% PERFECT once installed.

If you have an early Dino and are interested please post your intentions here. I hope to authorize production this week and need to know how many to make. The more interest the lower the price but it won't be more than $100.

Correct. The one on the top is the right one for early Dino's with a uniform finish and a slightly darker silver. The bottom one is correct for later Dino's where the finish is a little brighter and there are horizontal brush marks that can be seen in the photo.

Sigh...since I just replaced my scratched up original a few weeks ago.

I posted that picture to confirm, but also for other potential customers to see the difference and maybe get you a few more customers.

+1 for me for a `correct' one, please.

    Hello Rob,

I have to tell you that my guess is the change was during L-series production. #01100 with perfect original interior has the later version. It`s original, because with 206 GT and L-series the body no. was panceled on the backside.
#00636 has the early version, also confirmed with body no. on the back.
My guess the change was around #00800 as many changes within the L-series production.

    Regards Matthias

Matthias I have checked my archive of images and found that every car on or before our serial number 01464 has the earlier 'non brushed' finish on the dash. I found a later M series with the brushed finish so to the best of my research I can only assume that the change came after 01464 and not before it. Any more feedback would be most appreciated.

My 01712 early M-series seems to have had the darker version (see my posting earlier in this thread). I can't imagine the original was ever replaced given its wear and tear...which is why I chose to relalce it.

    Rob, I will investigate further.
I think #00746 (my former L-series had the brushed panel too.
    I have to ask Götz.
I think quite often during restorations these panels got some paint... ;-)

    regards Matthias

I would be interested in the findings. On my end I ran lacquer thinner and paint stripper on the part to check the finish and it was not damaged. A small test with oven cleaner confirmed that the finish is indeed annodizing.
