    Bob,

Not trying to get this post off the subject. I also have a new 2005 360. Long time order, finally got delivery in 12/04 at msrp. I was told about 100 - 150 delivered to the us, but I've never confirmed that. I once saw a post stating 150 - but no substantiation with facts. How sure are you on 125 built? And is that total, or us production? Regardless, it seems like a rare car.

And yes - I also have a SL55. Totally different cars. Definately better overall workmanship on the Mercedes. But no comparison on the 'WOW' factor. Daily driver - take the Mercedes. If money is no object and you want a great toy - the Ferrari rules.

I'm not 100% sure. I read here that 123 spiders where shiped to the US. I was not on any list for the car. I called my dealer and ask if any where available. He called back and said " Ferrari had an exrta one available" Options where close enough, so I took it . Waited 4 mounths. I got lucky.

one of my friends just sold his 360 spider which was rarely driven, abd ge git every dollar he paid for it back. i dont know specifics like milage or price, but i don't see the prices going down until the 430 becomes common.

Dinko, I have seen your posts on MB world. Do yourself a favor and put your name on the Gallardo Spyder list. It will be a hot car and probably won't cost much more than an 04 360 spider when they hit the dealers. You probably will actually be able to buy one without giving up your first born unlike the 430 spider. Also, I have seen a few SL65's for 160k which could be another car to think about! Good luck.

The SL55 is a great car, but if you want "exposure" then Ferrari is the way to go. These days the only Mercedes sports car out there that could possibly give you the same WOW as a Ferrari is the McLaren-Mercedes SLR. A friend of mine just received one and he showed it to me last night. It is truly an amazing automobile.

Newborn, huh? I don't think so, at least I hope that won't happen ;)
I have a friend in town with a 04 Gallardo who was friendly enough to show me the car inside and out. I was sold on the car. He has a order for a Spyder, but that will not be until next Spring. The spring delivery is sourced by Ultimate Motors in Orlando.

I don't think it's my time yet for a Ferrari, so I'll just stick with the SL55. Maybe the Lambo Spyder is something I will look into early next year considering I don't keep any car for more than a year.

However... I am going down to Naples/Miami this weekend, maybe I will end up coming back with a 360 -- I'll keep you guys updated! Thanks to everyone for your input!

I must respectfully disagree with your statement that MB handles better than a Ferrari, at least when comparing a 360 to an SL. That's the only Ferrari I've owned and compared. There is no comparison from a performance handling perspective with the obvious winner the 360. I've driven both. Nothing against MB. They're great cars.

Frank, for the sake of the children, put the crack pipe down! ;)

Mercedes better handling than a Ferrari? I have owned lot's of both cars -- just traded my 03 CL55 -- and while my MB cars are fast in a straight line, they don't handle better than my F cars.

As far as build quality, that is not a forgone conclusion either, particularly the MB cars and F cars of late. MB has had more than there share of issues in the last few years which has diminished their once impeccable reputation for build quality. My most recent CL55 was an enormous disappointment in terms of that criteria whereas my 01 and 04 (so far) 360s have been stellar in that regard.

the first year of the spider was 2001, also keep in mind that the 360 spider weights 3200 lbs and thesl55 at 4300 lbs, which is makes a real pig for a two seat conv...the 360 will smoke the sl55 on a track and as far handling goes...and everyone here assumes the sl will easily be faster straight line, but i am not so sure , esp if the 360 is launched properly... i will look up the performance figures...and mb is having significant reliablity problems, even the ceo admitted as much in the last quarterly conference call...my friend who is the sales manager of the largest mb dealerships in the country tells tell me that the sl models have not been immune to quality control issues...

From what I understand you have to be on the order list to get one for sticker price. I am not sure what the sticker price was on the 360 Spider but, I am sure the prices won't come back down to the original sticker price until the 430 Spiders have been out for several years.

While Ebay might not be the best source of prices, a quick search shows these 360 Spiders with "Buy It Now" prices.
I know you said '03-'04 but, here are some '02's for comparison.

    '02 F1 3,900 miles $189,995.00
    '02 F1 7,300 miles $194,900.00
    '02 F1 2,510 miles $188,888.00
    '02 F1 3,079 miles $196,995.00
    '02 F1 4,128 miles $196,995.00
    '03 F1 3,131 miles $204,995.00
    '04 F1 55 miles $224,985.00
    '04 6-speed 2,285 miles $212,500.00
    '04 F1 3,291 miles $215,000.00

mike, i doubt any of these prices will sell for the asking price, which often is pure fantasy....the market is flooded with 360s and 360 spiders that are not selling....an 02 f1 can be had for 175-180k if the seller really wants to sell....

As I said, ebay might not be the best source of prices but, if he wants one, it gives him an idea of what the high numbers would be. It's just for reference. I wouldn't suggest anyone buy a Ferrari through ebay unless they have plent of cash to burn and ebay has the exact car they are looking for. I already know that most of those Ferraris on ebay have been on there for months and they will continue to be on there for months.
From what everyone else here on this thread has said the prices for the '03 and '04's seem pretty close to correct.

What was the MSRP on a '04 360 Spider???

Options can change the MSRP by 15K. A well optioned 2004 spider 6 speed is close to 200K MSRP.

a good deal for who???anyone paying 200k for a 2003 6speed is crazy...i bought a 2002 over a year and a half ago, with 2 years left on the warranty, 6speed, tubi, very option including front and rear challenge grills, calipers, shields, hi fi and cd changer, power daytonas, and 900 miles for 192k and that was from a ferrari dealership and they were happy to sell the car....

What??????????? better go check your history. Mercedes has as much racing history as anyone in the world.

I've owned a number of both and many other cars......get the Ferrari, you won't be sorry
