Puts things in perspective http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6639032608853605781&q=carrera+gt&pl=true
Sigh! To have open, smooth roads like that...in the middle of the day! Great video. The CGT looks hot in any color.
Wow.....I know the CGT is fast, but to see it pull on the F430 like that! That being said, I still want the F430!!
Here we are stuck with twisty mountain roads all over the place. You can barely get the car going before it's back on the brakes and into another turn. What a drag
puts what in perspective? the fact that the Carrera Gt is faster? big deal, its more than twice the money and doesn't hold its value like a F430!
Hold it's value? If you want to "hold value", buy a mutual fund or a 60's vintage Corvette. If you want a great car, the CGT is leap years ahead of the F430. The CGT needs to be compared to the Enzo, not the F430. Anybody who would want an F430 more than a CGT is a Ferrari-homer, plain and simple.
Wow that CGT is a beast for sure... I thought when the 430's numbers when they first came out (0-60, and 1/4 mile) that they were very similar to the CGT's... I know most mags have backed off a little from that... but that is not really close... (assuming both drivers somewhat equal is talent). I want a CGT... and I still can't wait to get the 430 Spider...
I own a F430 and I say with money not being an issue I would still own the F430. CGT is nice but not clean looking and it is a Porsche with a lot of HP. Say Porsche...then say Ferrari ten times. Come on now...what sounds better. BTW, I would not own an ENZO either. Too extreme.
With all due respect to 430 owners, a 430 is simply not anywhere near the same league as a CGT. Not in any way. The CGT is simply put, a supercar. It is worth every cent and at today's prices represents unbelievable value for its capabilities. The real differences are not in 0-60 times, but in 0-150 where the CGT will run away from the 430. It will also handle better and brake better. I guess that's three for three. I also think it looks better. I'm a Ferrari fan and I have several but the CGT is simply stunning.
oh, this clip is here in Dubai, i saw the carrera gt plate numbers and guys common, it wasn't a fair race i know the carrera gt will beat the F430, but in that clip, the carrera gt steps on it before the F430, they should've horn 3 times or something!! and regarding which i'll choose, hmmm... i dont mind having them BOTH
Everyone knows that, in terms of performance, you cannot really compare the CGT to the F430, but in that particular footage, judging from the sound of the F430 it does not sound like the driver was going all-out. If the driver was going all-out, I would expect the F430 to stay with the CGT to about 70-80MPH.
Good video, but the Carrera GT is another boring Porsche. The design IMO sucks; however, it's performance is extreme and it's driving pleasure is also incredible. The F430 would have faired slightly better if the driver had the car in race mode with CST off. Also his car was most likely not equipped with carbon brakes, or sport seats. Those options alone will save around 100lb's on the F430. Great video!
Another boring Porsche? I've heard and read many descriptions of the CGT, but that's a first. Wow, you're hard to please!
I agree, I didn't really think the Ferrari driver was hammering the gas as hard as the CGT driver. And like stated before the CGT driver did always get on the gas before the Ferrari driver. That being said both are amazing machines and their road presence to me is pretty similar. I would choose the F430 over CGT because I'm a Ferrari lover but the CGT is still a car any person would be lucky to own. Mark
Let's not kid ourselves here. The CGT has much over the 430 in the way of performance. The 430 has imo way more beauty and style. The Germans know how to design for function and performance only. Esthetics don't come easy to them and the CGT is proof of that. The Italians know style and know how to evoke emotion with their cars. It's not just about numbers when you are talking about a street car. I have had 4 Porsches and 3 Ferraris (unfortunately none has been a CGT) and the Porsches are boring compared to the Ferraris
