The following prices in US Dollars include the buyer's premium and are rounded to the nearest dollar.
Unsold lots are not shown. Gooding & Company is not responsible for typographical errors or omissions.

    Lot 21 1984 Ferrari 412 Roadster $110,000

    Lot 25 1984 Ferrari GTi 400 $46,200

    Lot 106 1981 Ferrari GTi 400 $52,800

    1984 412 cabriolet? Could that be a 1989 412 with the top chopped or an 1984 400i?

Lot 25 was a one off 400i made for Greg Garrison with many 412 items added.

Lot 21 is the 412 cabriolet. Not a cut car, this one was really special.

Lot 106 is repainted well maintained 400i that was ex-Peterson (as in Peterson Museum). 5 speed car.

Thanks for the clarifications. I've since found the on-line catalog. I would caution against trying to draw any generalized conclusions about some of these prices suggesting sharp upward movement in the value of these cars. The 412 was an important one-off prototype. The 84 was a one off with 412 add ons supposedly done at the factory. The Peterson car is somewhat more telling. It was owned by the man of museum fame, but I don't think buyers are paying much for that. I remember watching Frank Sinatara's Ghibli struggle to make a 30k bid at Barrett Jackson a few years ago. People were willing to pay for that car as a car, and that holds true of most others--excepting perhaps the creepy Howard Hughes anti-microbeal car.

If Lot 106 really is 35097 then the seller made out very well or else seriously put some money into the car. I show it last sold for $21,600 at the June 2003 Petersen auction in LA. $52,800 is quite a nice ROI!

    John

PS. Catalog indicates that it was donated to Petersen in 2000 and kept there until this sale in 2007, so maybe the sale in 2003 fell through or maybe Ferrari Market Letter erred in reporting it sold or maybe I erred in recording it sold. I could probably dig out the issue of FML but life is too short for that!

Can you tell me the color code or color name of the Garrison car; it is identical color to my car which is missing the color code on its sticker.

The catalog says that the color for 50807 is called "Watermelon" and was a special order by Garrison. The catalog does not describe the color for the Garrison Scaglietti 412 prototype.

Auction catalog lists it as watermelon. I need to go through the PF paint codes from that era when I get a chance.

Did Garrison rescue this car after it was a factory prototype? He told me the opposite though there's a chance I misunderstood. He told me he ordered the car styled this way but I don't think he ordered it from scratch, the factory already had two ugly prototypes and I think they thought "Here's a rich Americano we can pawn this off on." I don't know if he subsequently had to go to a conversion shop to meet the US laws to get it registered.
