Can't remember if we have a books thread and can't be arsed searching. Started re-reading Jess Pourret's 250 GT Competition book the other night, interesting to see the tubular chassis which is poopooed so much now being used on the venerated 250GTO looking very solid Image Unavailable, Please Login My poor dust cover is getting shabby from the days when I had kids but the book itself is perfect When Rob gets back it'd be great if he could post up some of his great books as well as WRXMIKE who I know has a BIG library of car books
A book that surprised me was Forghieri on Ferrari, I had a lot of respect for him after I read it ....... he was quite brilliant Image Unavailable, Please Login And a "must have" for visually challenge car enthusiasts is Into The Red by Nick Mason and Mark Hales. There is a CD inside the cover that has a soundtrack of all the cars in the book Mason (Pink Floyd drummer) and Hales have both done a bit of racing and Hales is renowned for being "overpowered " by the prescence of the F40 in a taped session while driving the F40 around a track ...... he doesn't talk for the entire time he drives the F40 in anger while his female passenger just squeals with delight for that period of time ..... quite funny really Image Unavailable, Please Login
One of my favourite books to read every few years is "Ferrari, the man, the machines" by Stan Grayson ..... has some very notable people like Jenks, Moss, Hill ,, etc Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hahahaha of course he did My first wife signed my copy of Ferrari, the man, the machines ....... don't know what that says other than she bought me a book Image Unavailable, Please Login My second and third did the same ................ I'm not letting Neralee buy or sign any book !!!!!!
I had Jack sign my Formula one book at Speed on Tweed when he was a patron and was going to get him to sign his autobiography the next year but poor Jack died .... he looked very ill from dialysis when he signed my book Image Unavailable, Please Login As Simon and Rob know, I'm a big fan of Jacks and really appreciated a club member in VIC showing me his Brabham formula cars Image Unavailable, Please Login
Indeed. It was a well known car in the UK, being the first RHD spyder conversion and it was on billboards for Cadbury's chocolate for a few years in the 80's. Nick is a Daytona fan of course - he owns a comp car
If you watch long enough, you see the cycles of collectable cars flowing back and forth. If Australia gets through the coming recession better than the UK (a good bet IMO) you'll see cars coming this way again.
