Took the 575 for a run today. As I started out I noticed the CD player was annunciating "loading disc" and would not play music. Hmmmm...

A few minutes later the dreaded "Slow Down" light came on and stayed on. Obvious loss of power so I turned around and headed home since I was only a couple of miles away.

Thought I would address the easy issue first. Went to the trunk and tried to take out the CD pack to reseat it in the player. It would not come out. No way , no how. Hmmmm...

Went to the engine bay and checked ECU connections were tight and they were.

In the 737 when we have some sort of unusual glitch in the computers or electrical system we will power the aircraft down and reboot. What the heck...I turned the battery switch off and left it for 10 minutes. Turned it back on and went to the trunk and VOILA...the CD pack will now eject and the CD player works. Started the car and went for a rip and all is well. No "Slow Down".

    Ideas?

Some Audis used to have similar problems when aftermarket audio equipment was improperly installed because the audio equipment interfaced with the CAN bus that also carries the sensor signals to the ECU. The improper installation created "noise" on the bus which, in effect, corrupted the sensor signals. The ECU saw incorrect values and assumed the sensor(s) had failed. Not saying this is your situation since I don't know how the 575s are configured but you might have an issue with a shared circuit or bus.

Ferraris never cease to amaze me. You could not intentionally design a car that could do that. Yet Ferrari does things like this every day.

The stereo system is all Ferrari OEM so should not be a bus problem.

I've had the car for 3 yrs and it has performed flawlessly. No other electrical issues other than a battery replacement a few months ago.

For now I guess I'll hope the reboot solves the hiccup permanently.

Agree the sound system is not on the bus
I have lived with my 550 for 10 years now and have seen many of the things people describe on here with respect to electronics.
My view is that you have had a voltage issue
It's clear to me that the battery space they designed for the 550 wasn't large enough so we cary a small battery and the alternators are prone to failure and spikes / troughs in voltage

If I was you I'd charge the battery and check the output from your alternator

Load tested the new battery. A-ok

    Alternator output is good also.

Took her for a ride last night and no problems. I agree that it sounds like a spurious voltage issue. I guess I'll keep driving her and hope for the best.

On rare occasion my speedo will read 70mph going 25mph on my street. The cure is toshut the car off and restart it. This problem happens so rarely there is no way to trouble shoot it. I could throw some parts at it but it is not worth the effort. Its the charm of Ferrari! If our Ferrari had no personality they would were a Porsche badge.

My electric door locks go out of sync every so often, But the funniest is the suspension light that comes on whenever I pull up to one particular pump at my gas station. There's a concrete strip which is about 1/2 inch high at the pump and only the right front and rear wheels contact the strip. Yet my 550 never threw a suspension light on the 31 degrees of banking at Daytona. Go figure!
