Recently bought this 308GT4 book from a very nice gentleman in Italy and noticed the featured car had a nose badge I have never seen before. Anyone know the history behind this?

That’s the first time I’ve seen one like that. I bet it was an aftermarket piece for somebody who wanted to make sure others knew he was driving a Ferrari.;)

Interesting looking book. Is the text in English?

That's a crazy smart way to comply with the Dino rebranding that occurred, at Factory directive..

It was a total PITA to change the horizontal orientation to vertical for the standard nose badge, metal work involved and the repaint.
A crazy smart dealer said &^%*^&% that, and ordered these badges.

I agree that m must be one of a kind or only one dealership in the world. as that is unseen to my knowledge!!

Did you find it in a shop or individual seller? I’d like to find a copy for myself. I know there’s a whole set but I just did a quick search and couldn’t find one.

    Thanks.

I saw it pop up on eBay and snapped it up as I had not seen one before. I checked the seller’s site and he does not have any other auto books so this may have been a one off. Here are the sites I have found useful for Italian car books:

Yeah I could imagine a dealership looking at the cost and hassle of properly replacing the front badge and deciding it was cheaper to have a limited run of enameled badges made. They did a pretty good job in my opinion! Lucky for them this was before the days of the intellectual property police.

There are odd placed badges at rear on that car. Not odd badges, just odd placed badges rear. I have the book but never saw the strange front badge. Good work!

The dealer could also have placed the normal Ferrari badge sideways in the original Dino badge space, that would have been a funny thing to do! ;-)

I’m not very talented but could these badges be replicated in the same way you make pottery? Clay fired in the kiln with studs placed on the back? Certainly give it the ceramic look. Would be fun to try! :). There’s a niche! One off personalized Ferrari nose badges! LOL
