When I open the link I have the option of clicking on the image to "supersize", allowing for very

    detailed view.

Here's the interview with the artist:

    An Interview with Bryan Larsen

Larsen, a Romantic Realist, has painted several paintings I love. The original Justice sold but giclee prints on canvas are available:

Justice by Bryan Larsen at Quent Cordair Fine Art - The Finest in Romantic Realism

It's amazing how much Larsen has improved over the years.

(FYI: I have no affiliation with either the artist, the gallery, or the interviewer.)

Okay, I'll speak up. You caught my attention with the title, but the painting itself just failed to inspire any commentary. With thousands of interpretations on the Justitia theme out there, this one's not at all terrible, but to my eye at least, it's not exactly one of the more memorable either.

And of course, art's entirely subjective. I'm not knocking the artist or his work; just responding to your comment about the number of looks vs replies.

Could you share interpretations you've been moved by, El Wayne?

I like it because it depicts motion, something representational art didn't do much of until the Italian Renaissance. (Not crazy about the model.)

All right; I chose not to comment earlier because my mother reminded me: "If you can't say something nice.....shut up".

My dislike related to the artists depiction of certain images rather than his subject matter interpretation. He cannot paint "mechanical" things worth a damn. Case in point: the perspective on the suspension cables on the painting with a (Golden Gate?) bridge; the painting with the small airplane.....not a clue.

    MHO.

    Meh.

Frankly, it's nothing I'd want to see on a daily basis. It's "ok", but nothing special.

For me, it's seeing her in action, defending those scales. It hits me like a ton of bricks.

Yes, Justice is in action. I like the idea of her swinging the sword.

I suppose it's all up to individual interpretation, but I'm just not picking up on any motion. If she's supposed to be swinging the sword at that angle, then it's not registering with my brain for whatever reason.

Unfortunately, no matter how I try, I just can't unsee my first impression - a model standing in a somewhat awkward pose while holding up two heavy objects. If it makes me feel anything, it's a bit of discomfort on her behalf.

    Probably just me, though. Sorry!

While the artist is certainly competent the work doesn't rise above the merely 'illustrative'. It has a slightly 'plodding' quality, both in execution and composition.

That would be the "Realism" in Romantic Realism. They reduce to essentials to concentrate whatever they're trying to convey.
