As in the world of fine art, the most elaborate attempts to misrepresent cars occur where the profit potential is greatest. That was the case with a Ferrari sold by Lord Brockett, a British collector who got involved in the heady world of Ferrari sales in the 1980s, when rising prices seemed destined to continue.

Lord Brockett commissioned a reproduction of a Ferrari 250 SWB, or short wheel base, to be built on the chassis of a far less valuable 250 GTE 2+2, and to hide the fraud the car was given the serial number of a long-missing 250 SWB. The legitimate car later turned up; Lord Brockett ended up in jail for a variety of offenses, including an insurance scheme involving five cars he had cut up and buried on the family estate. He is now a motivational speaker.

There was a program on Speed TV a week or so about the 10 all-time best sports cars. Among the other commentators was Brockett. He was described as an 'ex-collector'. I had a good chuckle.

This guy should be banned fom anything that has to do with automotive history.

He chopped up 5 ferrari's of historic importance...
He frauded with the value of his cars.
He "pimped"ferrais in more expensive modells.

His drivers-lisence should be suspended for life!!!!
This man should not be allowed near any vehicle with 4 wheels.

Its a damn shame really, as the Ferrari meets at Brockett Hall used to be fantastic.
I have been to two in the past, and they were always very well recieved and attended. Beautiful grounds.

    Two comments on this article:

First, I do not know which source(s) they used, but the Heritage Certificates do not give factory options and Ferrari SpA is not willing to give names of original owners to respect their privacy.

Second, Ferrari now issues Ferrari Classiche Certificates and Original Vehicle Colours Certificates, instead of the Heritage Certificates.

    Best regards

He did get 4 years in prison (from memory), go bankrupt and have to lease the family home until the end of his life to a hotel and golf complex. I live near Brocket Hall and make a point of sticking two figures up everytime I drive by.

It's not what you think. Back in the days of yore, when knights and warriors used a powerful bow and arrows for battle, a warrior's 2 fingers were used to draw back the bow string in preperation for firing the arrow into the enemy. When a warrior was captured and taken prisoner, sometimes they had their 2 fingers chopped off so that they could never again fire their bow and arrows. In a sign of defiance, warriors often held up their 2 fingers to show that they were fully capable of firing arrows at any time.

    In other words,....take THIS!!!

We loved France so much we took her.

As harry is not off to Iraq perhaps he coudl follow hs name sake V

got to love France, so much we shoudl take her again... then abandon EU and add France to the commonwealth! and let them use the pound.

Now don't take it seriously, I'm not suggestig we invade (just Harry), but imagine.
