Hi Guys, Got an interesting story experienced last week. Drove the car about 80-90 km distance. The fuel gauge was somewhere between 1/2 and 1/4 close to 1/4 before the trip. After the trip it was below 1/4. Anyway parked the car and did some personal things and then decided to go wash/wax store for the bug/insect removal on the front which we usually have on summer days after long trip. Warned the car washer guys not put pressue around engine hood part. After washing no problem with the car , started normally but after 150 meter distance the car start to stall and the rev idle couldnt pass the 3000 rpm , but it was a mess it was like stop go stop go and then after 250 meters the car stopped. Tried to start the car no success. When trying to start car then ignition sound was like , when you have problem with an outboard marine machine. I usually have similar problem with the outboard marine machines. Anyway called the local workshop (which was previous official dealer of Ferrari and Maserati) and just 2 km distance where i was stucked , the guy thought that it might be because of washing , any sensors or spurk plugs might be wet. Then he sent a tow truck. They plug the car , no problem was seen , they lifted the car checked the sensor , wires etc no wet seen. Then they removed the spurk plugs , they seem normal no wet. They tried to start the car , no success. Same issue. After that the tech guy , wanted to check the the gas pressure and he noticed no pressure from a hose , we opened the gas cap. No pressure from inside. anyway bought 4-5 liter of gas. Then first try , the car starts normally. Then a small test drive no problem. After that i bought gas and filled the tank , bought about 77 liter of gas. They think that there might be a problem with the buoy inside the gas tank. By the way the distance i traveled for a full tank was about 350-400 km. From now on i will fill the tank after i drive 250 km distance.
The fuel level sender in my 348 is horrible. The low fuel light comes on when I have about 4 gallons of fuel still in the tank. What I have done is calculate how many miles per gallon I average, and then reset the trip meter every time I pull fuel in the tank. I can get about 100 miles of driving per 5 gallons of gasoline. So If I put 10 gallons in the tank I can drive 200 miles, or 15 gallons I can drive 300 miles, or 20 gallons = 400 miles, etcetera. You should probably start doing the same.
I average about 270 miles on a full tank, and I always fill it right up each fill-up so that makes it simple for me
