While interesting ... doesn't that just make all circuits STREET circuits?

Sounds cool, it is a good concept. However, I think walls at the corners would have made it dangerous, could cause cars to flip over if an accident should occur. But I would agree with some kind of deterrant to discourage the use of curbs, the question is what.

If they did that, they couldn't run the bikes there. Most of those circuits need more than just one class of vehicles running to make a profit. Wouldn't work.

    Definitely.

Not a great idea: I like street circuits, but then they better be in a city. Taking a road course and add these artificial walls is just silly. Also one of the great advantages of run off area is (aside from driver safety) that the field doesn't dwindle that fast because of driver errors. I prefer risky drivers who have an occasional spin and try to catch back up to a procession of careful drivers not risking anything.

This suggestion is preposterous on so many levels that it's almost pointless discussing it.

That's the silliest reccomendation, I've ever heard.
Here's my idea : Peanut Butter all over the steering wheels - should make for lots of excitment.

Or maybe it could happen like what happened to Rand Racing in SRPII at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2002. Master cylinder sprung a leak spraying brake fluid on the pedals and getting some onto the steering wheel. We were able to bring the car into the pits, repair the leak, change steering wheel, clean the pedals and Terry Borchellers shoes and put him back out without dropping a spot. He said it was getting kind of "hairy" out there before he came in...

BTW, the team set the pole and led every lap of the race, start to finish without ever dropping in second place even during the pit stops. Only car as far as I know at Daytona to do that. Oh, won the championship that year also. Car was prepared and manned by the Risi Competizione crew.............

Why don't we add machine guns and spear throwers on to the cars while we are at it? That will be very exciting too... we can have Top Gun style dog fights on the race track. Also instead of giving out points to the drivers after they finish teh race, we can have them arm wrestle, play soccer and shhot at targets to detmine points.

You want to make F1 exciting... I got more ideas...
Lets stop racing cars. Have each driver run around the track with water guns and try and hinder each others progress.

Heck why even do that... lets just draw a lottery. Lotteries on who won the race, who gets 10 points, Lotteries are real EXCITING!!! Why do we need to spend money building cars and tracks?!??!

    ITS CALLED PLAYING BINGO!
    That is fun, RIGHT GRANDPA?!?!?!

Dont like the way F1 is right now, go follow another sport!

I think they should add stop signs, traffic lights, and pedestrian crossings to the tracks. That ought to make it more lively. Curbs? Make them cement and square.

One more thing. If you want to slow down the cars ....... very simple.... put Michael Schumacher in a special F1 Police car equipped with radar. Install speed limit signs around the track. Then just let him position himself in different places around the track and when he catches someone "speeding", he can give chase and pull them over for a 3 second penalty. If he catches you with the radar gun, then you get black flaged and have to come in the pits for a 3 second stop. This would only cost a few thosand dollars instead of millions.

Haha! Some of the suggestions here remind me of the 70's film "Death Race 2000," featuring Stallone.

I don't know what happens at the end, because I had to turn it off before getting that far. It's the only film I've been so bored by I couldn't see it all the way through.

Got the DVD for free on the front of a magazine...

Reminds me of an Austrian GP in Zeltweg where the environmentalists from Austria were protesting the race because it represented motorsports etc.

They threatened to attend the GP as spectators and throw balloons filled with motor oil onto the track during the race.

Gerhard Berger's reaction was: Why don't you just shoot at us with guns?

Eventually there was some agreement made and the protesters went their way. But it was one of those episodes that left a sour taste in Bernie's and other people's mouth. And then some wonder why Bernie wants to get out of Europe.
