I don't know. In this thread, 07893 looks like alloy body with the long bar behind the door... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vintage-thru-365-gtc4/235980-07893-275-gtb-long-nose.html#post138493958
I see. I didn't think the Starburst wheels would have justified calling a 275 GTB with a fully formed Long Nose body an Interim version but I am probably wrong.
Yes, I have never seen a 275 GTB called "interim". It's me who use this term to show the cars with short wheels and long nose + large rear window but may be it's inappropriate...
The early long nose cars were built with starburst wheels. Also when they switched to the "square hole" alloy wheels, they were only 6 1/2" in width, not the later 7" wheels. Many of the long nose cars had 6 1/2 " wheels.
So we can see the details of this transitional long nose 275 GTB we are discussing here are some screen shots from the video. I thought there were less than 15 long nose 275 GTB with these wheels (around s/n 077xx and 079xx) but 08031 and 08033 also have its !! Then there must be much more cars with these wheels. 20 ?? 25 ?? More ?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Indeed it does, but even Oscar said it was steel when he wanted to buy it. Just one of these discrepancies perhaps. Mario Bernardi will know, he used to own it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very strange ! It would be the first time I see a steel 275 GTB with the alloy bar behind the door ! Thanks.
Was it Ferrari that upgraded the engine to 6 carb specification and Ferrari that changed the chassis plate to reflect that? Would Ferrari Red Book Classiche certify a car with 6 carbs that was originally a 3 carb? I know 07887 was Red Book Classiche certified so would it have to have had its original 3 carb arrangement to get the Red book at the time of inspection? I ask because I've seen a number of Red Book Classiche certified 6 carb 275GTBs that were originally 3 carbs. Pic attached by Marcel Massini. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Factory build sheet engine page for 07887 shows that initially this car was born with 3 carbs (Weber 40 DCZ/6). The factory upgraded the engine at a later date to six carbs. The ID tag in the engine compartment is not the original one and is a reproduction fabricated in recent years. It had another repro badge before (see photo below). Compare with photo in post #35. I have been in touch with Mario Bernardi who has been very helpful. He confirmed 07893 has a steel body (as standard with aluminium doors, bonnet and boot). He sent me lots of pictures of it. Attached are 2 pictures during its restoration where you can see that it does not have the roof seams that the alloy bodied cars have (see the pictures by Marcel Massini where he points at the roof seams with the green arrows on the yellow alloy bodied 07887 that show the roof seams of the alloy bodied cars). Mario didn't know of any other steel bodied 275 GTBs that have the long rain gutter. It may be the only one??? Cyril or anyone else is that Charles Pozzi with the glasses in the light color suit showing the politicians around the new Ferrari models?
No Charles Pozzi is not in the photo. There is a Charles in the photo though...none less than President de Gaulle, the tall one at center.
