I read and posted about this a few months ago. I certainly thought it was interesting. Most people just said "that's ugly, I would never put it on my car". Obviously they didnt read the articles about it, the side wall is off for demonstration purposes only, it would look like a normal tire otherwise. Now, let's see who still says that.

I like to see where the technology is going. This is an interesting development from an engineering point of view.

I do that all of those flexible spokes as potential points of failure. If any of them develop cracks or break completely, it would render the wheel useless. With a pneumatic tyre, you don't have this issue.

For high speed runs where blowouts can be deadly, this seems like a decent solution.

Very interesting. The last pic in the series says "deformable wheel". But the Audi has a normal wheel. What gives?

    What I'm looking at...

It looks like during cornering the amount of force required to deform the "flexible spokes" would cause alot of friction... Looks like the crushed tires would want to "brake" mid corner... if you know what I mean.

It will just redefine the parameters of what a wheel is. And in this case it will be small, just enough to clear the rotors and calipers to provide a mounting surface for the spoked tire.
