"Even when new, the Mondial was an entry-level model.".....if I remember well, the mondial was more expensive then 308 and 328 at the time.
NCM had to check when I moved mine up to 45k, but then passed it. Overall, this is a pretty boneheaded fluff piece.
Even a fluff piece should get the facts straight. Perhaps the writer's journalism degree is "entry level"...
I remember the Mondial market well as I was in the back seat for hours as prices were haggled at dealers in 83 and 84. By time of delivery in March 84, my docs show that we got 5k off of retail on an October 83 built Cabriolet. We did not want Resale Red so opted for SERA dark blue. Interest rate was crazy high, financed half. I guess 50k was a good price post winter as 308s were the bigger seller.
Thanks for sharing. I always liken it to what the FF and GTC Lusso represented in the market. Higher priced than their 2 seat siblings, yet - ironically, 'harder to move.' That said, still important to be accurate when describing the Mondial on the hierarchy (well, at least as Maranello intended.)
