AFAIK no trace of this car ever going through PF plant has ever been found.

Build sheets say "inviato in carrozzeria il 31/03/59" and describe the car as "FARINA berlinetta con volante NARDI campanato". So we don't really seem to know who BUILT the body, which for me points towards Scaglietti after all. At this time Pininfarina was taking full control of designs (I would imagine he was not amused at all when Tour de France and California Spider received more attention than any PF design ever and it is a fact that all "artistic freedom" Scaglietti enjoyed realizing PF designs in 1955-59 comes to full stop at this point!). As a result a body built by Scaglietti obeying drawings from PF could and maybe should be described as "Farina berlinetta" and carry appropriate badging.

    Best wishes, Kare

Pictures of the car at Le Mans appear to show the Pininfarina badge and script low down at the rear on the front fender which is the usual location. There is no hood scoop, seperate short front bumpers right and left sides, full width rear bumper and small vent vent windows on doors. The new body after the crash shows a SWB type hood scoop, no bumpers front or rear, chrome prancing horse on radiator grill, no PF logo and no vent windows. The case can be made that the original body was PF and the later rebody was not intended to be an accurate repro of the original and correctly does not carry the PF logo. just one man's opinion tongascrew

My Grandfather was Joe Cherubini. He wrecked the car in the sixties as written, however it wasnt as glamorous as crashing at the Bridgehamption racetrack. He fell asleep in Southhampton with my grandmother in the car. Both were ok. My question is regarding the wreck picture above. When in the cars history did it ever have a blue stripe?
Photo attached at his home in Center Moriches.
