Where can I find the original color code for my interior. I want to try a re-dye on some of the parts. 84 Modial QV Cab.
Hi Mark, I got in touch with an official Ferrari dealer here in the UK and by giving them the chassis number they were able to give me a brief summary which included the paint code, interior colour code, engine number etc. It wasnt until then that i knew my car was blue Sera, paint code 504/C, i thought it was Chiaro blue but then again I had nothing to compare against. Give it a go see how you get on. Cheers.
Mark- Not sure if cars that old have been entered into MODIS or not. You can ask your local dealer to print a build sheet for you. Like Peter said, it will have all the data you need, if possible to do.
For redye purposes a picture may do the trick. Many have Ferrari beige (Connolly 3218) and this can be identified via a picture.
the best way is to send a 1" square sample to them (Home Page | Leatherique Restoration Products) and they will match exactly. Use a piece under the seat or dash. I used them recently and the color is spot-on! Cheers, Greg
That is great information Greg, I forgot about sending them a sample. In case the Ferrari dealer entered the wrong code in their system for the car, I will cut a piece sample and send it to them for my car as well. How hard was it to put on? Did you use the Rejuvenator oil first then the dye? Also, how durable is the repainted areas after getting some use? Here's an old thread on this: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/355918-restoring-mondial-leather-seats.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
We've seen the great looking seats in Hank's Rachel out in the west coast done by Fernando. Now I just found out there is a shop in VA Beach that has done great work as well: Making the Ferrari Daytona Seats by Paul's Custom Interiors VA Beach [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIUJpUGwBh4]Making the Ferrari Daytona Seats by Paul's Custom Interiors/ Auto Upholstery - YouTube[/ame] cheers
If your interior is the typical Connolly 3218 with typical sun fade you may want to try SEM Color Coat Palomino spray dye. This is lacquer based like original and although intended for vinyl and plastic surfaces does a nice job of matching the faded original leather for touch up. Sending a swatch from under the seat to Leatherique or other dye manufacturer works great if you want to dye the entire interior but is not helpful for touch up due to typical fade.
Yes I did use he rejunvenator oil first and then rubbed the area with a very fine sandpaper. After that a few light coats of the leather paint over the area and its perfect.
