I need some help. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to design my bedroom and was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions. I have a fireplace that I want to be able to see and the TV is located in the center of the room on the wall. I am going to post some pics and see if someone can help me out. Any suggestions would be great!! Antony Size: 30 feet long 16 feet across 11 feet high I would like to be able to watch TV in bed, see the fireplace but also sit in from of the fire to watch movies. The TV is on a swivel mount and can point at my bed now or over towards the fire place. I am getting all new things so dont count any piece except the TV. I see fchat on the laptop, lol. I've heard pros and cons of hanging a tv over a fireplace, so I'm not sure if that would work or not. What about moving your bed where the tv is?
I'd just angle the bed in the corner. That really is the most random TV location I've seen in a while..
I'd start w/ 2 opposing chaise lounges in front of the fireplace w/ a small coffee table in the middle. Place them perpendicular to the fireplace.
I put this on my tv - would allow you to watch while in bed or reverse to sitting area. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&source=hp&q=wall+brackets+for+lcd+tv&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=10275995678535310563&ei=vL-FS-OKCaH-8Qah_dWkAg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBUQ8wIwAA#ps-sellers
You would have to almost always keep the one door closed, but placing the bed where the tv is now, and tv on the wall left of the windows/doors since it has a swivel would be perfect. You could see the fire place and the tv at the same time. As well as a great view for the morning. Then plenty of room for a couch or couple of recliners/chairs in near the tv.
The challenge with the TV was it's too far if over the fireplace (even at 55inches). I already have the swivel mount so i can watch it from bed or by the fireplace. I NEED art work cause the stuff I had from my old place is too modern (mostly B&W print). Let me see if I can find a blueprint of the house.. thanks guys Antony
That is some funny stuff! They would probably ask about the Teddy bear in the corner and if they should design the room around it to match its texture and proportions. Back to the design: Are you using the fireplace? If so, are you burning stuff that produce smoke? Are you using an insert to control heat flow? The reason I ask those because that would dictate if your TV can be set up on top of the fireplace. The next thing you need to worry about is would you need glasses to to be able to see the TV? Get rid of that desk!!!! I would reconsider the TV in the bedroom too if I were you. Think about it; a bedroom is for sleeping and sex PERIOD! But if you must... Looking at the room, what are you aiming for? It looks like my room when I was right out off college; minimalistic! You have to decide how grown up you want the feel to be. The design will come after that
Hey, Antony - nice joint! Got the "New York" view and everything. Heck of a leap from Miracle Mile, aye?
Hey Anthony, speaking of artwork....Check out an artist named Peter Lik, I have several of his pictures. They are large scale scenic panoramics that are absolutely amazing!! Check out the website and if you are interested I have a couple of contacts I could provide you with their names. Mike
