    The interior door lever on the left side broke off. I was surprised that it is cast or pot metal. I have canvassed all the variety of sources: Eurospares, Rutlands, Ferrpart, Maranello, GT Carparts, All Ferrari Parts, Ital-Spares, and Mr. Fiat to no avail. If any of you have one to sell, please let me know or know of another source. Also, if you know anyone parting out a 400 that would also be helpful.

    Note;
    With a little mechanical work, a left can be turned into a right and vice versa.

    Thanks. Will check them out. A lot of times, parts are found in unlikely places. Hope this is the case.

    Mondials 8, QV have the same door level, so you can look for one of these also.

    Interesting that you mention the Mondial as one of the companies I contacted mentioned that as well. When I googled a photograph of the Mondial's interior door handle it was not the same. However, the exterior door handle is the same as the 400. Good to know for the future if I need an exterior door handle.

    • Is'nt this the same inner door lever ?! This is from a mondial 8/QV....could be the dimensions are different.
    • The some Alfa Spider also have the same outer door lever (more or less..)

    I know a chap that has recently broken a 400. He’s keeping the engine, gearbox and chassis for a new build, but most other bits are available. It’s here in the U.K. but I imagine he’ll ship to the USA (or elsewhere). The website is hartgrovegarage.co.uk and ask for Tim. Feel free to mention my name (Ewan)

    Mostly British Automotive came through for me. Dave mentioned he has a number of interior door handles left but none are complete. So if anyone is interested in other parts for the interior door besides the main lever, he has them. As Ken (SouthJersey400i) pointed out, they are parting out a 400I ( Dave wasn't sure which year), so if anyone needs an unobtanium part they should have it now. A thank you to everyone who chimed in with support. Greatly appreciated.

    How much did he get you for the part? Prices have soared since the original owner passed away a couple of years ago. His wife still does the billing and shipping. I think Dave worked there for years. I went there 10+ years ago and it is/was an amazing shop restoring Rolls and Jags.

    You warned me. Ouch. All the sites that didn't have any but had an advertised price were around $130-150. It cost me $400. It reminds me of that old story . The costumer goes to buy an apple and the vendor wants to charge him 50 cents. The customer says" the guy down the block is selling apples for 30 cents" The vendor says " then go buy one from him". The customer responds, "he doesn't have any apples to sell". Dave was very good to deal with and very responsive. The part will arrive tomorrow. Thanks again for the recommendation.

    Had this happen to my 412i earlier this year. Got a new part via the folks at Autosport Design in Long Island - if I understood correctly, it was 3D printed in aluminum by a company in Europe. My new part looked exactly like the one in aluminum from Ital-Spares cited above, so perhaps.... The new part was far more robust than the original, particularly around the little lever that actuates the rod that open the latch, which is where mine snapped. It was "overbuilt" enough that I could not install it with the little hairpin spring that is supposed to assist with closing the handle, but this proved to be unneeded as the door latch itself will easily pull the handle to the closed position. The finish on the exterior portion of the new handle was more polished in comparison the brushed texture of the original.

    Good day All,

    Just a heads up that the outer door handles are not necessarily interchangeable between Ferrari models or those from other cars like Alfas. They may "look" the same, but it is the details that could cause issues. Below is a thread I posted a while back where I bought some outer door handles that were marketed as being compatible between the 365/400 models, but I found many differences which made them unusable.

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/be-aware-of-the-new-365gt4-2-2-400-series-door-handles-being-sold.487081/

    I never bought and compared handles from Alfas, etc and so they may or may not be compatible. However, I just wanted to remind everyone that there can be differences that are not immediately obvious.

    Cheers,

    Sam
