    I removed the door panels to replace the stereo speakers, on both sides of the car. The passenger interior door release handle went back on just fine. But the driver side won't slide back onto the notched and grooved thingy. Any ideas why, and how to fix this are appreciated.

    It slips back on, the casting size of the handle did not change when you removed it. It has to be perfectly straight and clocked right, you cant just be "sort of inline" to slip it on the tolerance is tight. You can always expand the handle a bit by putting it in the oven at 350 for a bit but almost certainly NOT needed.

    Its frustrating but it will fit its just very exact
