Really sad. Any 50 year old electrical system requires a battery cutoff in use when the car is not actively being driven, and a fire extinguisher in the cabin. Right before I bought my Dino, it was at a local shop for a PPI. They came back from lunch to find smoke in the interior - the ignition switch had shorted. If they’d come back even a few minutes later, the car would have needed a lot more than a replacement switch.

 

I swapped out the original bulbs for LED's in my Dino and Stratos for that very reason.

 

I did the same, the original plastic fittings were melted when i got the car

 

That car looks very repairable to me. A shame to part it out.

 

Most likely caused by the ammeter. When the automakers switched from DC generators to AC alternators the ammeters should have immediately been replaced by voltmeters. There was a lag, but the ammeter eventually went away.

Correct, but the car does not have to be parted out because the insurance company will not pay for repairs; and may give it a "Salvage title" [At least in the U.S. and its territories].
