I been going crazy trying to fix the my interior light on my 355. I searched the forum for possible causes. I replaced the door switch because my door lamp on the drivers side wasn't working properly. That fixed the door lamp, but didn't fix my interior light. I bought a new interior light. The old one was repaired and it was missing a piece I later found inside the trim.

I took the trim off on top to see if everything was ok. The rubber around the wires are melted in spots from the heat I would assume. They are still intact and the connectors to the plugs look good also. The fuse is also good. You can hear the door locks go off when you put it back in. I was hoping someone can maybe tell what ther thing to look for. Is there a relay switch somewhere ?. Would the console switch for the dome light cause the interior light not to work if it is bad ?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know the interior light flips in three directions.

Just a quick update. I cut off about 10 inches of wiring and reconnected the plugs and still no go. I kind of knew the wiring was probably still ok even though its was melted in spots. The connectors don't look dirty. I cleaned them anyways. The door switch is fine and the door lamp works. Would the center console button cause the interior light to not work if it was burnt out ?.Anyone know where the interior light wiring runs too ?.
