Hey guys, Minor issue, my center dash instrument lights surrounding the A/C controls, etc suddenly stopped illuminating at night. All the other instrument and interior lights work normally, I'm guessing it's something simple like a blown fuse? Not sure if it's related, the "mode" button (for setting clock, etc) doesn't seem to be working either, although the "set" button next to it works fine. I tried looking in the manual (endless list of "lighting fuses", but none that specifically mentioned those components), and did a search, but no success. Anyone encounter this before and can point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance - 07 F430
There are no specific fuses for HVAC panel backlighting. You either have a broken panel or it's a wiring issue. The experts on the forum can perhaps tell you how to remove the panel. I don't know if the back plug can be accessed without removing the panel (to allow you to do voltage checks on the pins with a voltmeter). Put your voltmeter across these contacts on the plug going to the panel (with the ignition and sidelights on). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Could you be more specific? Are all your centre console switchlights not working? How about your rear number plate lights? How about the toggle switches near the steering wheel?
The centre instrument works The climate control and the 4 buttons left from the wheel and the centre console don't work when I turn on the lights at night
OK, try swapping fuse AF5 in the forward luggage compartment with one of the other brown 7.5amp fuses. Image Unavailable, Please Login If that doesn't work, swap relay AR11 with AR5 (or AR6)
Did you check power going to the relay socket? Image Unavailable, Please Login There should be: Live battery power on pin 3. Key power on pin 1. Earth on pin 2 when light switch is on.
If it's a wiring issue, you'll have to isolate the various sections of wiring. You didn't answer this...
There seems to be a connector in the forward luggage compartment Image Unavailable, Please Login If it's accessible, can you check this for bent/damaged pins? It supplies power to the relay and fuses. It also provides the earth (ground) from the light switch.
If you're sure that the fuse and relay are ok, maybe you could check the wiring continuity between the relay socket and connector YA02 (see post #12) Image Unavailable, Please Login If your rear number plate lights are ok, ignore this faultfinding step (and the previous XA02 connector check).
thanks you I fixed it It was a wrong wire in the battery maintainer that blew the 5a fuse in all the interior lights
Thanks for the follow-up. I must have misunderstood the symptoms. The "wrong wire in the battery maintainer" sounds like it would have affected a lot more systems. I'm not sure what fuse you changed. Do you have a location code?
