I’ve owned my 458 for a few months now, and everything has been amazing other than the fact that the car has an interior rattle from the passenger dash area that comes and goes. It sounds like it’s coming from the HVAC vents. When the rattle is present, it is pretty much constant regardless of how fast or slow I drive the car.

I haven’t brought the car into the dealer yet, but I wanted everyone’s thoughts on whether you would just live with the rattle (maybe driving with the windows down or with music on), or if you would bring the car into the dealer and pay to the cost to investigate, and possibly introduce more rattles or other issues if they take apart the dash.

Hard to diagnose. I had a break coming from the passenger side front windshield. It was horrendous. I had it fixed, and it was better, but ultimately made it easier to sell the car.

Are you positive that it's from the dash? I had an M3 once, that I swore was from the dash and it was a rear seat belt buckle. My rattle comes from the JBL speaker panel behind me, which I originally had fixed and needs a tweak now and then.

I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t drive me insane every time, but I also don’t want to make a mountain out of a mole hill by bringing it to the dealer and potentially making the problem worse…

It can be combination of many different things. I can not stand any kind of rattle, I am super senstive to this kind of noise, my F8 had a few rattles. Bother me so much that I took to independant shop and dealer two separate times. Independant shop found that it was garage opener metal clip. Then there are still a few more, dealer could not find anything. Then I removed the gate opener remote, that fixed another. Basically look for anything that is loose in the car first. Most of times the rattle noise are not from the car, it is from items that is in the car no matter how small, if it is plastic, metal, loose, it will rattle.

Then next one was sprint booster control when loose the plastic does make rattling sound, so I wrap it in black anti-viration foam and slide it into key holder slot. That took care of it.

Yet there is one final one rattle that was impossible to find, always sound like coming from center air vent area. I then removed the loose spray detailer bottle out of glove box. That completely eliminated all rattles. Now even on uneven road it is dead silence.

That was too funny to read— 4 different silly things that you put in your car for some reason and all the rattles were them lolol- I don’t have any things like that in my car and yes, it is also rattle free— wait! Except the seat belt that occasionally taps the back of the carbon seat because I refuse to put the belt through the loop on the seat because it causes a crease in the seat belt just letting it sit in same position for the next however many years.— other than that, no rattles.

Mine has a rattle coming from the same place. Took it to the dealer multiple times and comes back with. It will be expensive to diagnose and even more expensive to fix. Just better to live with it.

I am very annoyed by any kind of rattle and I don't drive the car without music blasting.
