I'm about to place my options for my granturismo, going with Grigio Pallado on Bordeaux. I would like also get color contrast stitching ... was wondering if black would look better or white ?

If you're going to do Pallado and Bordeaux I would consider a shade of gray that best suits the exterior (and carpets to match) but if you want to be a bit adventurous you could try navy blue stitching...seriously, it would be more of a natural fit to the exterior than either black or white.

I was thinking about contrasting stitching until the salesman pointed out that there is an awful lot of stitching in the Granturismo compared to other models (check some photos to see what I mean). Choose carefully or it might look like overkill.

Got to disagree with your salesman on this issue. I saw 3 GT's yesterday at my dealer - nero carbonio/nero, nero carbonio/rosso and grigio alfieri/rosso. The nero/nero car had grigio contrast stitching and it looked far better to my eyes and really brings out the italian craftsmanship feel of the interior. Both red interiors had matching stitching and looked less impressive as a result IMHO and more "ordinary" like other brands such as MB, BMW etc. There is a range of beautiful bespoke luggage for the GT by Salvatore Ferragamo and this features finely detailed contrast stitching as well.

    hwai333,

The best stitching color really depends on the rest of your interior scheme. If you are going for black carpets and headliner then black stitching would look best as it will keep the number of colors down and make the interior look less busy. Grigio Medio stitching would most likely be the best match for the exterior colour IMHO if you want to create a unique but co-ordinated look. I doubt that white would look great as it will be very stark against the bordeaux and introduce another color to your scheme. Just my two cents ;)

Fair enough. There are no Granturismos in this country yet, so nobody here has had the opportunity to see first hand whether the stitching works well. I'll take your word for it if you have seen it in the flesh.

It's all a matter of personal taste 360C and I take most sales peoples thoughts with a large pinch of salt :D We are the ones buying the cars after all, not them, and they tend to go for conservative and dull combinations in case they ever have to take the car back as a trade. I've always found that if you are a bit more adventurous with an interior but don't go mad with too many contrasting colors then resale is pretty easy as a growing number of people are looking for something that stands out from the crowd. Having said all that I'm sure there are also plenty of people who will disagree but that's the beauty of choice.

One thing I would say is that the rosso leather is a fairly bright shade of red. I had considered going for it as I've never had a red interior before but at the time I ordered my car my dealer didn't have a leather sample. He showed me an F430 with a red interior which he said was fairly close and I decided against it. Turns out he was right and the colors are very similar.

My advice is not to do any stitching since you seem so unsure. I have never ,that I can remember ,order it. I like seat piping. I didn't for a long time but I got it on my 599 and really like it. If you order it and don't like it, you will never like the car.

On bordeaux the best stitch I have seen is silver or dark yellow...they match so well. White will look too contrast...but hey that my opinion...I love white stitching on tan or beige...good luck keep us posted.

thanks for everyone's input ... in the end I've decided to go with grigio chiaccio stitching .. here are the specs for my first maserati !
    Grigio Palladio w/ Bordeaux
    black headliner & carpet
    20" wheels
    red brake calipers
    alu grey trim
front parking sensors (dealer told me they were informed about this new option but not on the official option list yet, will try to get it in for me)

I didn't know I had to also add in metallic paint as an option if I ordered special paint, thought it was an either or. Production in Feb/March.
