It was originally black vynil, I had it recovered in leather. I am told that with the application of tons of rejuvinator oil it will come back. Great if it does but if it doesn't, what is the asking price for a gts interior these days? I would have to farm it out, it is one job I cannot do.

I'm in a friggen time warp! Is the windshield cheap or are the panels expensive? At first I freaked, then I took stock and maybe I'm not doing so bad. My seats are more than fine, could replace the sponge inside, but frames and rails are in great shape. Reinforced all the strapping a long time ago so the bottoms don't fall out and back panels don't get pushed out. Always kept the rails well greased so no wear to speak of. At worst I'll need seat skins if these don't come back. Firewall cover is good, carpets good, Door panels....The screw holes get ya!. The top will need all the trim, that's still vinyl, I never had a problem with vinyl, can't even remember why I changed to leather........
The more boxes I open, the better I feel.

The problem with trying to replace the seat foam is they were originally cast onto the frames. I have seen a couple of folks advertise that they had replacement foam, but when I contacted them, they said "But not right now."

The last guy that seemed to think he could get the foam was asking about $600 a seat for it. Wanted a deposit, and then figured I would wait "a while" for it to be made.

I took a shot at cutting and fitting foam to my old seats, it wasn't a very successful venture. That's one of the reasons why I ended up buying replacements.

Certainly worth a shot of leatherique reconditioner before you bail on any of the leather. It worked wonders on the firewall cover I have. took about ten applications over several days, but it did work.

I had less luck with the dye he sells, but I may not have applied it quite right.

    www.leatherique.com (I think.)

Here in the Uk i had both seats recovered in the original colour/spec leather, two new door panels made from scratch and a new firewall cover all for £1600.00 and they have been done exceptionally well by an old well established company. most of the vinyl trim is easily done yourself using the old covering as templates, it's not hard after all i can do it!

From what I hear, that is the key, keep applying the rejuviantor oil till it can't take any more, then the cleaner, till your satisfied, then the restorer etc etc.

As for the foam, I am going to see if I can remove the skin, maybe I'll soak it in oil for a week or so:) check out the foam see what the deal is. I used 1" wide straps and wound them oround the frame to supplement the elastic straps, the support as, I remember was excellent, and the mod invisible. I have not seen any one selling those straps have you?

I went with my lovely wife to the fabric store. In the back is the upholstery supplies.

They sell all kinds and colors of 1" to 3" wide strapping very similar to what the original stuff looks like.

I used heavy duty nylon thread and sewed mine into place when I re-did the bottom of my original chairs.

I re-used the hooks as much as possible. Then where I didn't have a hook, I stitched the stuff with upholster's thread. Heavy nylon stuff with a hooked needle.

I might have a picture somewhere.
