2005 F430 spider, and once in a blue moon the top will get 90% of the way down and stop, and not complete. The clamshell won't close over the top. So, I reverse it, turn the car off and restart. It works 100% of the time. No big deal, I just looked at it as a "quirk" of a handbuilt Ferrari. Last weekend, the "turn it off and restart" scientific process didn't clear it. It goes 95% of the way down, fold up, but the clamshell wont close on top. Tried 3-4 times ... no dice, so I put it back up, and it fully locks.

    Thoughts?

How do I check the hydraulic fluid level? Where is the resovoir? What kind of fluid do I put in it?

Thanks for the help, and yes ... I tried the search function but couldn't find what I needed.

Search for "430 top fluid level". You will get a few hits on that one alone.

I had a similar problem that was solved by an adjustment of the micro switches. I don't know what fixed it but the dealer did it pretty easily.

Micro-switch says "Top closed", but it's not. Best guess.

Thanks Mike, I agree. I am going to bring it in to the dealer for a "fine tuning".

I had the same problem & on my top , between the liner and canvas was a fabric loop that go'around the top frame rail that was stretched out. it prevents the top frame rails from fully sliding back into place which prevents the spyder cover from closing. i just push the bar back by hand when the top is half way open and it closes fine
