Hi guys, wonder if any of you experienced the following: Loss of revcounter display at odd times, often when getting back near idle, can go long periods without probs, then starts again. Not a big problem, car's a 1980 auto with relatively low mileage after years of storage in a private collection. So far I've had a collection of stuck relays but nothing major. Maybe the humidity in the uk is the problem! Cheers
Hi Check the smaller of the two digiplex boxes attached to the front hood (the bottom one). See photo bottom RH corner of hood the lower smaller box with blue label. This is the rev limiter and rev sender unit. By this I mean take off and clean the connections - it is a sealed unit. The connection harness can also be checked by same process. If the (bottom) dinoplex is faulty - MSD make a rev sender unit that costs about £80 and is easily fitted (replacement cost would be for hole unit and thats at least £1500!!) If its the rev meter - that can be easily removed by unscrewing the front nuts and giving the connections a good clean. Do a search on this site for repairers if this is faulty. If you want to buy a used rev dial unit I have one or try Eurospares. Andrew Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the tips, I'll try these out as soon as I can & keep you posted, might need that revcounter dial. Still feeling my way round, used to have nothing but Mercs of the 60s and 70s, wasnt so scared of trying things out with these. This is my first Ferrari and I love it! It makes the big Merc coupes feel like taxis...
Hi Andrew, Your tip seens to have done the trick. My dinoplex looks slightly different but i had a look at the connection, pushed it all back in and went for a long drive. The revcounter worked perfectly. Thanks again! Thant's one deferred defect off the list. Image Unavailable, Please Login
