I'm replacing the battery in my 2004 Ferrari 360 spider for the first time, after 7-1/2 years. (Battery Tender trickle chargers are remarkable!) There are numerous recommendations for the Interstate MTP-91 on this site, among others; but no one mentions the following potential problem:

The length of the MTP-91 is listed at 11-3/8" but I just discovered, on removing the old battery, that my battery tray is only 11-1/8" long. If the upper part of the battery is 11-3/8, no problem, but if that is the length of the bottom, it won't fit without modification. Should I look for a different battery?

    Thanks!

I just replaced mine today and the MTP-91 is not the correct battery from a fit perspective -- its a tight fit in there.

If you search the forums more closely you will find that this common problem can be solved by fitting the Interstate MTP-H6 (also called MTP-48-H6) instead of the 91. I purchased one today for $150 and it has an 85 month warranty with full replacement within the first 2 years. They also sell a gel version called the H6A if that's your preference. If not, remember to vent the compartment correctly.

    Hope this helps.

I have a MTP-91, fitted by the prior owner. It fits, but barely. When it's my turn to replace the battery, I will get the gel version of the smaller battery noted above, or an Odyssey. The problem with wet cells is that they can leak, and if they do, it's much worse to clean it up on Ferrari 360s/430s because they're inside the car.

Had a Interstate when I bought the car, replaced it a few years later with an Odyssey PC925 - big mistake - just installed a MTP-91, no issues installing and performance is strong

PS, I keep the car on a tender
