So the GF and I are walking in downtown Huntington Beach last night and who do I recognize hitting people up for money but this guy: A&E's Intervention From Episode 10 - Kelly F. Family and friends decide that an intervention is their only hope of saving Kelly, a man with a 160 IQ who lives on the streets and survives on beer and other people's spare change...... I did a double take and then walked up and said hey youre the guy from TV. He was bumming with another guy and lowered his head and laughed and said, "got any spare change I need a beer. I said no, sorry. Kelly: It's not like it's for crack or anything. I proceeded to walk away and his last comment was, "but you love me." Interesting to say the least. Hopefully the guy changes his ways one day. PS: I don't mind helping someone as long as it's productive. Enabling a sickness is not my idea of help. Hey, if you would have given the guy some money or whatever then good for you
I've watched that show and think I know who you're talking about. I like to see it when they turn their lives around. Doesn't sound like it worked in this case.
I give these people advice (i.e., "...get a job..."), but I do not give them money. I guess I don't feel guilty enough.
Was that the guy whose mom had to lure him home with the promise that he could get his dog? I don't feel guilty at all when I walk by these people...I work very hard for everything that I have.
sometimes after a long hard life of disappointment, a beer may make him feel human again. even in our low times, a little bit of kindness can really help, i know
Yea, that guy. I figure his Mother maybe caved in and let him stay back at home if he was in Huntington Beach again. His hair was cut and he didn't look too bad although I noticed a large healed scar on his face. The guy is obviously smart and gifted in certain ways, it's unfortunate he chooses to channel it in a destructive way.
Whats the line? Give a man a fish and he has something to eat for the night, teach the man to fish and he is set for life. Something around there. Good line.
